MEET

Our Team

Our educators are caring, committed and attentive to every child, and to every family too. We know that by developing healthy, fulfilling relationships with families we can work together in really rewarding ways!

Our educators have all the experience, skills and personal qualities required to provide the best care for your child. We also understand that open communication and input from families is of utmost importance in ensuring that your child is nurtured in a way that fits their routine and unique personality. To us, fostering a positive and trusting relationship with parents is just as importance as fostering a positive relationship with the children.

Kavita

Centre Manager

Kia Ora and Hello

Qualified and a fully registered Early Childhood Educator having been in this industry for over 17 years holding a Post graduate diploma in ECE from Auckland University, I am the Centre Manager of this Centre.

Leading this Centre’s team is a joy and a privilege for me making my work a pleasure!  Each day is unique, special, and filled with fun. I love the choice I have made to work with young children and their families. My interests include  discovering nature, creativity with natural and reusable resources and gardening,

I like to incorporate the practices associated with sustainability and love sharing my ideas with our Kaiako, tamariki and whānau.

I believe, environment being as the third teacher. Children learn through nature inspired learning Papatūānuku (mother earth); a natural outdoors environment that provides opportunities to embrace, care for and support Papatūānuku.

I believe in the uniqueness of every culture within the Centre, working collaboratively with parents and whānau to support their aspirations and values.

I aim to maintain and nurture sustained connections between families, whānau and community.

Harpreet Kanwal

Educator

Kia ora koutou katoa,

My name is Harpreet. With a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Education, a Masters of Art and 5 years of teaching practice in my kete, I came to NZ in 2001... not to forget to mention my husband in that list.

After completing my Diploma in Teaching (ECE) in 2005, I continued my practice as a registered teacher in ECE.

I stepped into Centre Manager’s position in 2012, leading and mentoring teams of some very passionate ECE teachers. With a personal goal of providing my 3 year old daughter best of my time and energy, I have returned back to teaching Under 5s at PLC.

Respect and relationships are the principles of my teaching philosophy. I believe in giving children autonomy of their learning. I encourage them to take risks, celebrate their wins and try harder if they lose. Teaching children to be resilient and helping them to get life ready is what I focus on immensely.

In my time out of work, I love to read, travel and watch movies. I am a good listener and love a good laugh. To me life is simple and should be taken in a stride.

Shawn Moorad

Educator

Kia Ora and Hi

My name is Shawn and I have migrated from South Africa with my husband and four children. We all have lived in New Zealand for over 15 years and have made this beautiful country our home.

Working alongside children is a great passion of mine, watching them grow and develop into different personalities is always fascinating to me. I believe as a teacher my role is to support children to develop into competent and confident individuals and encourage them to take responsibility for their own learning.

I will always be open to take on new ideas on learning experiences in a hope that these opportunities will make a difference in the world of the child.

Kia Ora Whanau / Parents

My name is Yi-Chun Yu. I came from Taiwan and I live in Botany with my husband and two children. I completed my Bachelor of Teaching in Early Childhood in 2012. I have been working in the early childhood sector for about 6 years.

My teaching philosophy is that each child is unique and competent. They are all potential learners. They deserve to be  treated equally and educated by following their individual needs.

I consider myself as a good model for children to learn from and promote their learning step by step through planning their daily learning experiences. I also believe that parents play an important part in children’s learning. One of my goals is to work closely with parents to facilitate their child's learning.

Forming a strong partnership with parents is one of my motivations to support children’s learning in their early years
